Iowa added about 254 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in the last week, including additional deaths in Washington and contiguous counties.
In the last week Washington County has seen three new deaths, bringing its total to 26. For contiguous counties, Jefferson saw the largest increase in deaths in the past week with six new deaths bringing its total to 18, and Iowa County was the only one whose tally remains the same since December 11th with 19 deaths. All other contiguous counties saw at least one new death with Henry at 20, Johnson at 45, Keokuk at 18, and Louisa at 23.
Washington County’s 14-day average positivity rate had inched lower this past week, but then moved back to the same percentage as one week ago with 13.3% as of Friday. Percentages decreased in surrounding counties, with Johnson at 8.9, Louisa at 13.8, Henry at 20.8, Jefferson at 13.3, Keokuk at 14.4, and Iowa at 7.7. Statewide, the percentage decreased to 13.5.
