The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves girls basketball team is drawing attention from around the state with their hot start to the season. WMU is currently 8-0 on the year and ranked in this week’s poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Wolves check in at No. 11 in class 1A. They were ranked 14th a week ago. Winfield-Mt. Union has wins this season over New London, WACO, Pekin, Danville, Van Buren, Central Lee, Mediapolis and Wapello. Kyndal Townsley and Bradie Buffington are the team leaders at 10 points per game. Buffington is the leader on the glass at eight boards per contest. Keely Malone has dished out a team best 2.3 assists. The Wolves are back on the floor one final time before Christmas when they meet Louisa-Muscatine in Winfield on Tuesday.
