The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team is back on the road Monday when they travel to West Liberty to meet the Comets. Mid-Prairie is 4-3 on the season after a last second, 44-42 win at Monticello Saturday on a Phelan Hostetler shot as time expired. In the win over the Panthers, Mid-Prairie was led by Maddie Nonnenmann’s 19 points and Hostetler’s 13. On the season, Mid-Prairie is paced by two in double figures with  Nonnenmann’s 12 points per game and Lugar’s 10 per contest. Nonnenmann also leads the team at six boards per game. Amara Jones leads the Hawks with four assists per game and Lugar averages a team best four steals per game.

West Liberty comes in with a 3-2 record overall, winners of three in a row. They are currently ranked No. 6 in class 3A according to the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In their last contest they rolled the Blue Raiders of Anamosa 68-45. For the season, West Liberty is led by a trio averaging double figures with Finley Hall at 17 per game, Sailor Hall 14 and Macy Daufeldt 12. These two teams met three times a season ago with West Liberty winning two regular season meetings by 63-61 and 39-33 scores before knocking the Golden Hawks out of the playoffs 66-39. The Comets have won four in a row in the series, Mid-Prairie had won the 17 prior meetings before that stretch.
