The Washington City Council approved a request for reimbursement from the Iowa COVID-19 Government Relief Fund at their recent meeting.

The request resolution supersedes resolutions previously approved in September and October. City Administrator Brent Hinson said the state had some issues with the wording of the resolution, in that the state couldn’t pin down the exact amount the city would receive out of the $125 million the state made available for local governments for COVID-19 recovery. As mentioned in September, the city is still eligible for about $172,000 which will cover expenses incurred from March 1st through December 20th that were not accounted for in the current fiscal year budget. Hinson affirmed that the requests follow all federal and state guidance on how the funds should be spent.
