The Washington County Engineer’s Office has received a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation to make improvements on Wayland Road.
The Engineer’s Office recently announced that they have received $245,000 to assist in making safety improvements to a two mile section of County Road W55 by adding paved shoulders with a safety edge and edge line rumble strips. The funds awarded are a part of the state’s Traffic Safety Improvement Program which seeks to systematically improve safety on all roads across the state. For fiscal year 2022, 46 applications were submitted, and Washington County was one of the 25 applications that received funding. The project is expected to be completed sometime within the next two years.
