Iowans in need of assistance to meet the cost of home heating can apply to the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program.

This federally-funded program from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is open for homeowner and renter applications until April 30th. Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis, and receive a one-time payment for their heating utility. Information on federal poverty guidelines and how to apply can be found here.
