The Washington for Justice organization is hosting a virtual speaker event this Sunday.

Group Treasurer Haleigh Brockman says this event is titled “A Focus on Our Community: Race, Cultural Competence, and Bias,” “We are hosting a guest speaker, Professor Yolanda Spears. She is a professor at the University of Iowa and she is currently teaching a social work Master level course on discrimination, oppression, and diversity and we are hosting her for a community online discussion.”

Brockman adds that Spears has years of experience working with diverse populations, creating community partnerships, and program development. The virtual event is open to the public and attendance is encouraged by faith leaders, law enforcement, city council members, and other community leaders.
