From snuggling inside to cycling outside, the Washington Public Library is offering many activities and programs for youth and adults this January.

For kids in preschool and younger, Library Director Bryna Walker says they are hosting a winter family reading program, in which families can pick up a kit to make a snowman at home while completing 30 minute reading challenges. Walker shares what they are offering for older kids, “For the kids for youth kindergarten through sixth grade we have a bingo card available. This is something that is very common during our summer months. We have bingo cards where it will say, ‘drink some hot chocolate and read a book, or ‘go up in a blanket and read a book,’ just different ideas like that and then you just cross off a square. So we have that card available and then there’s also a prize too.”

Walker reminds the public that the library will be locked during their business hours in January, so people can call them to pick up the bingo card and other materials. The library is also hosting special Zoom events about cycling in winter and a “great library bake off” challenge, as well as their monthly Sticks and Strings and Washington Writer’s Workshop events.
