The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams are in action Tuesday when they welcome the Wilton Beavers to Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman for a River Valley Conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawk girls come in with an overall mark of 5-4 on the year, having alternated wins and losses to this point in the season. Last time out, they closed the 2020 portion of their schedule with a 50-34 win over Northeast Goose Lake on December 22nd behind 18 points from Myah Lugar. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Maddie Nonnenmann at 12 points per game, 10th in the RVC. Lugar and Phelan Hostetler are also each in double figures at 10 points per game. Nonnenmann also leads Mid-Prairie on the glass at seven rebounds per game, sixth in the River Valley. Lugar leads Mid-Prairie with three steals per outing. Amara Jones has a team best four assists per game. The Golden Hawks are ninth best in 3A, shooting 41.6% from the floor on the year. Hostetler leads Mid-Prairie at 63.5% from the floor, third best in Iowa for those who have attempted at least 50 shots this year.
Wilton comes in with an overall record of 6-3, winners of three straight. This is their first game of 2021. Last time out they beat Anamosa 65-41 on December 22nd on the strength of 32 points from Kelsey Drake and 18 from Ella Caffrey. On the season, the Beavers are led by Kelsey Drake at 24 points per game, fifth most in class 2A. Drake has a team best four assists per game to her credit and five steals per outing, eighth in class 2A and Ella Caffrey leads the Beavers at nine rebounds per game, second most in the River Valley. These two teams met twice a season ago with the Beavers winning 54-42 on their home court and Mid-Prairie getting revenge 62-44 in Wellman.

The Hawks were led in the win by Alex Bean with 18 points including five three pointers. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Carter Harmsen at 22.8 points per game, seventh best in Iowa in class 2A. Harmsen also leads Mid-Prairie on the glass at eight boards per game, third in the River Valley. Jack Pennington has the team lead with six assists per game, sixth best in Iowa. The Hawks as a team are averaging 16 helpers per contest, seventh in 2A.
Wilton comes into the game with an overall mark of 3-5. Last time out they fell to Anamosa on the road December 22nd 68-42. For the year the Beavers are led by Caden Kirkman at 19 points per game, third best in the River Valley Conference. Kirkman leads the Beavers and River Valley with nine boards per game and has a team best two assists per contest. These teams met three times last season with the Hawks winning all three with scores of 54-42, 51-42 and 62-43.
