Momentum is starting to build around the Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ basketball program and they continued to roll last night by traveling to Columbus Junction and downing the Wildcats 62-33 in their first game back from break.
After a tight 14-10 lead after one, the Wolves exploded for a 27-point second quarter and outscored Columbus Community 41-11 in the next two periods to quickly put the game to bed. Cam Buffington continued his offensive prowess for WMU with 24 points and nine rebounds. Abram Edwards added 14 points and four blocks.
The Wolves have won four of their last five and sit at 4-2 on the season. They host Hillcrest Academy on Friday. Columbus is 0-9 and travel to Mediapolis on Friday.
