An additional warrant has been issued for a Des Moines woman who allegedly dragged a Washington police officer with her vehicle last August.
According to the Washington County Communications Center, at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday the Bexar County Jail was made aware of an arrest warrant for 42-year-old Mary Bella Brooks. She faces charges of second-degree theft and failure to affix drug stamp, both class D felonies, as well as charges for possession of a controlled substance, first offense, a separate controlled substance violation, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug. Bond is set at $37,000 cash only.
Brooks was arrested by the Texas State Patrol in October on a Washington County warrant for assault on persons in certain occupations with use or display of a weapon, interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, interference with official acts inflicting bodily injury, assault while participating in a felony, and second degree theft, all class D felonies, as well as leaving the scene of an incident with an injury, a serious misdemeanor. Bond was set at $50,000 cash only for the charges stemming from an August 2nd incident in which Brooks was found to be driving a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop with a Washington police officer. Brooks refused to exit the vehicle and drove away, dragging the officer with the vehicle. The officer received minor injuries. Brooks then abandoned that vehicle and allegedly stole another vehicle from Washington and left the area.
