An Iowa City woman is facing multiple charges after hitting and knocking down a light pole with her car Wednesday morning.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, they received several reports of a car driving all over Highway 22 before entering a ditch and striking a pole at the Riverside exit to Highway 218 shortly before 7:30 a.m. The driver, Esther Wilondja, was uninjured and able to exit the vehicle on her own. She has been charged with failure to maintain control and expired vehicle registration.

Earl’s Radiator and Repair of Kalona was contacted to tow the vehicle and the Iowa Department of Transportation was advised of the fallen utility pole.
