The annual Gary Curtis Invitational will take place today in Riverside with Highland hosting the 17-team tournament.
Washington and Mid-Prairie will join the Huskies as area schools that will be participating. Highland has a pair of wrestlers ranked in The Predicament’s latest rankings in Easton Schlabaugh and Bryce Thompson. Schlabaugh is ranked sixth at 106 lbs with a 12-2 record and Bryce Thompson is eighth at 113 lbs also with a 12-2 mark. Mid-Prairie has been led by Josh Wallington with a 20-1 record at 285 lbs and Mose Yoder is 19-4 at 113 lbs. In a recent Fort Madison tournament right before break, Washington’s Jacob Hill finished fifth at 182 lbs and Jacob Miller was seventh at 138 lbs. Joining the area schools will be Alburnett, Cascade, Clinton, English Valleys, Iowa City Liberty, Mount Pleasant, Muscatine, New London, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Iowa City Regina, South Tama, Tipton, West Branch, and Wilton.
All of the action begins at 10 a.m. this morning at Highland High School.
