Highland High School was the center of the wrestling world in southeast Iowa Saturday as the Huskies hosted their annual Gary Curtis Invitational. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks posted the best team score of any area squad with 139.5 points, in fifth. South Tama won the tournament with 173 points. Mid-Prairie crowned three champions on the day. Vinnie Bowlin brought home the title at 160lbs with a fall over Kaden Shirk of Wilton. Cael Garvey took the title at 195 with a fall over Johnathan Lilly of Wilton and Josh Wallington was the champion at 220, beating Logan Wright of West Branch by 16-5 major decision in the title bout.

The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Wildcats were ninth of 14 teams with their score of 73.5 points. The Wildcats had one champion on the day with Lane Scorpil taking the title at 113 with a 7-1 decision over Bryce Thompson of Highland. Chance Malone finished runner-up for Columbus at 285lbs.

Highland was 10th in the field with their score of 58.5 points. Top finishes for the Huskies were a pair of runners-up with Easton Schlabaugh second at 106lbs and Bryce Thompson second at 113lbs.

The Washington Demons were 13th with their team score of 36 points. Top finishes for the Demons were sixth place for Jack Kleese at 106lbs and Chase Greiner sixth at 160lbs.
