The good times continue to roll for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ basketball team on Tuesday when they downed Pekin for the second time this season with a 52-37 home victory to stay unbeaten.

It was another methodical effort with the Wolves up 11-9 after one, 27-20 at the break, and they pulled away in the second half to secure the win. Bradie Buffington led the way with 10 points, Jobey Malone had nine points, and Farrah Nelson hauled in eight rebounds. WMU is now 11-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

In the nightcap, the Panther (10-1) boys jumped all over the Wolves for a 38-16 lead at half and that advantage was all they needed to cruise to a 59-40 victory. Abram Edwards led WMU in the defeat with 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Cam Buffington added eight points and eight boards. The Wolves drop to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the league.

Both WMU programs get back on the hardwood tomorrow at Lone Tree.
