The Wellman-Scofield Public Library is becoming more accessible to in-person usage, with some pandemic restrictions still in place.
Library Director Carol Wilkins says they continue to offer curbside checkout of books and materials for the least amount of social contact, but they’ve also opened their doors for patrons to walk in, browse and pick out their own items. Wilkins says they prefer to have patrons schedule an appointment beforehands, “Many people call just outside the building and 99% of the time they can come right in, or at least within the same day.”
Wilkins says COVID-19 safety concerns have caused a reduction in the number of staff members which has led to reduced hours of operation. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday; and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Wilkins says they will stay open later by appointment, and they are open Saturday mornings by appointment only.
