It was a Southeast Iowa Super Conference doubleheader in Riverside on Friday with Highland and Winfield-Mt. Union splitting the area matchups.

The WMU girls continued to roll in a 67-28 victory. They jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one and 39-14 advantage at the break to put the game to rest. Keetyn Townsley hit three triples on her way to a game-high 19 points and Bradie Buffington added 11. The Huskies had a hard time taking care of the rock finishing with 34 turnovers. Jenna Sands recorded 13 points and Abbi Stransky brought in 11 boards. WMU is still perfect at 13-0 and Highland is 1-7.

The Huskie boys got out to a fast 13-5 start and carried that momentum to a 54-43 signature win. Head Coach Bill Zywiec tells KCII Sports it was a physical game. “We had to adapt to the way the game was being called and we packed our 2-3-zone in with our two guards being very active. We got into foul trouble early, but adjusted in the fourth and the kids stuck with it to come out with a quality win.”

Cam Buffington led the Wolves in the loss with 16 points and Bryce Wade had 11. Highland is now 3-6 and WMU is 6-6.
