Four KCII area schools participated at Saturday’s WACO Warrior Invitational in Wayland. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks came away with the best team finish, taking second place with an overall score of 122 points. New London won the team title with 134 points. Mid-Prairie crowned three champions on the day with Cael Garvey taking the title at 195 over Donovan Babcock of Cardinal by fall, Josh Wallington won the championship at 220 over Micah Kearns of Baxter by fall and Gannon Callahan at 285 beat Chad Kent of Wayne for the championship by fall.
Highland finished eighth in the team standings with 79.5 points. The Huskies had two champions on the day with Easton Schlabaugh winning the title at 106 by 4-1 decision over Dalton Ervin of Moravia. At 113lbs Bryce Thompson was the champ by fall over Grady Gunn of Mediapolis. Carlos Valenzuela finished runner-up at 126lbs.
Washington was 11th in the team standings with 55 points. Chase Greiner led the way for the Demons, finishing as runner-up at 160lbs. Washington also had fourth place finishes for Jack Kleese at 106, Lane Schrock at 120, and Curtis Stender at 195.
WACO was 15th with eight points. Top finish for the Warriors came from Landan Provino in sixth at 285lbs.
