Hillcrest Academy guard Eli Ours hit a career scoring milestone last week. The Raven senior topped the 1,000 point mark for his career in a 44-34 win at Mediapolis on January 12th. Ours came into the contest, needing six points for the feat, and did it with a three point goal midway through the first quarter. He is the eighth player to reach the mark in school history.
He scored his first points in the first game of his career, a start as a freshman against rival Lone Tree. He ended with six points and Hillcrest came away with a decisive 74-33 victory. Ours would end his freshman season with 193 total points. As a sophomore he put together a season with a team best 272 points. His junior season he would lead the Ravens again, with 377 points. He hit the 500 point plateau on December 6th of 2019 while scoring 21 in a win over Louisa-Muscatine at Hillcrest Union. Halfway through his senior season, he has accounted for a team leading 203 points. He has victimized Highland the most, scoring 152 points against the Huskies, more than any other foe. He averages 15.8 points per game against Pekin, more than any other opponent in his career with a minimum of four meetings.
By the numbers, his top shooting season was his freshman year at 48.3% from the floor, followed by his junior year at 44.9% and his sophomore year at 44.8%. From long range his best season was his junior year where he connected 50 times in total for a 35.2% clip. As a freshman he hit 11 threes and finished at 33.3% and as a sophomore he knocked down 24 threes at 31.1%. His best per game average came his junior year at 17.9 points. He scored 13.6 per outing as a sophomore and 7.7 as a freshman. He has appeared in 79 games, starting 77 of them in his three plus years at Hillcrest.
