COVID-19 case numbers as of January 19th.
Another COVID-19 death has been confirmed in Washington County this week, while many counties across the state have seen their 14-day average positive test rate dip below 15%.
The state coronavirus dashboard shows Wednesday that Washington County has a total of 32 deaths, among 2,179 positive cases and 1,779 recoveries, and a 14-day positivity rate of 12.9%, compared to 17.1% a week prior. Washington County Public Health Administrator Danielle Pettit-Majewski updated Tuesday morning that the county has 374 active cases, with three long-term care outbreaks and eight patients hospitalized. Louisa County has confirmed two COVID-19 deaths in the last week, bringing their total to 30, and for other contiguous counties Henry has 31, Iowa has 22, Jefferson has 25, Johnson has 51, and Keokuk has 26. Statewide there have been 332,412 positive cases as of Wednesday, with 270,587 recoveries and 4,394 deaths. Pettit-Majewski also informed Tuesday morning that the county has so far administered 1,037 vaccines, of 142,614 statewide.
