Mid-Prairie wrestler Josh Wallington reached a major career milestone on Thursday night at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Fittingly, on Senior Night, the Golden Hawk senior captured the 100th win of his high school career with a pinfall against Tyrrell Hughes of Wilton. He spoke after the meet about the accomplishment. “I knew we were getting close but I didn’t know that my 100th win could be today. They did a good job keeping that a secret from me. It feels really good to get my revenge on that guy after he beat me last week and to get my 100th win. It feels like it was just my freshman year and that time goes by so fast. It feels good to do it, especially against that kid. The home crowd really put it over the top.”

Wallington recorded his first career victory at the 2017 edition of the Jeremy Fulk Classic at New London with a fall against Seth Kargol of Eddyville-Blakesburg. He reached the halfway point in his climb to 100 at the Colton Allen Memorial Tournament at home in 2019 when he beat Mason Olmstead of Alburnett by fall. Wallington went 16-16 as a freshman, 26-20 as a sophomore, 27-6 as a junior, and so far this season is 32-3.
