A pair of South Iowa Cedar League matchups took place in Keota on Friday with the Eagles splitting a girl/boy doubleheader with Belle Plaine.
A slight 23-18 advantage at the break for the Eagle boys was stretched to 42-32 after three and they never looked back on their way to a 54-40 victory. Luke Hammen and Carson Sprouse provided most of the offense with 19 points a piece on a combined 14 of 26 shooting. Bryce Greiner added seven points and seven rebounds off the bench. Belle Plaine is 9-9 and Keota improves to 13-1. Their 11-1 mark in league play puts them comfortably in first place for the East division with Iowa Valley in second with a 7-6 record.
The Eagle girls refused to go away trailing just 21-19 at half and 31-28 after three, but the Plainsmen did enough for the season sweep with a 44-37 final. Taylor Kindred led the purple and gold with 11 points and Macie McDonald added nine. Belle Plaine is now 11-6 and Keota falls to 2-10.
Both Eagle squads travel to Tri-County tomorrow.
