Six to nine inches of snow are predicted for Washington County as the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for southeast Iowa today into Tuesday.
The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Monday to noon Tuesday, as heavy mixed precipitation and heavy snow are expected. The storm is forecasted to begin from the south and move northward, with snowfall expecting to begin between noon and 3 p.m. in Washington County. Ice accumulations of a light glaze are also predicted, with winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour. Travel could be very difficult to impossible during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes, with widespread blowing snow significantly reducing visibility. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Listen to KCII for weather and road condition updates.
