A group of area wrestlers appear in the latest set of rankings from thepredicament.com.

The highest ranked area wrestler is Lane Scorpil of Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union/Lone Tree. The junior is No. 2 in this week’s class 2A poll at 113lbs. He has amassed a 23-1 record on the season. His only loss coming to another ranked wrestler, Bryce Thompson of Highland, in the championship match at the Fort Madison Invitational. He avenged that loss a few weeks later, winning the title at the Gary Curtis Invitational over Thompson. Scorpil has also won championships at the Willard Howell Invitational, Big Red Invite at Centerville and Denny Christiensen Tournament at Anamosa.

Thompson checks in at No. 6 in class 1A at 113lbs this week. The Highland senior has a 21-3 overall record. He has taken titles at Fort Madison, WACO, Wapello and Louisa-Muscatine this year.

Joining Thompson in the poll is Highland teammate Easton Schlabaugh. He is ranked No. 10 in class 1A at 106lbs. The Highland sophomore has a 25-3 record this season. He has tournament championships from the WACO and Wapello this season.

Sigourney-Keota’s Jack Clarahan is No. 8 at 160lbs this week. The Cobra sophomore has a 31-3 mark this season. He has won championships at the Willard Howell Invitational, Ottumwa Invitiational, North Tama Redhawk Invitiational and his home Sigourney-Keota Round Robin tournament.

Scorpil and the Wildcats will next be in action Thursday at Louisa-Muscatine along with the Highland duo of Thompson and Schlabaugh. Clarahan and the Cobras will next be on the mat at the South Iowa Cedar League Championship meet Saturday at BGM.
