keota-homecoming-2021

While most high schools celebrate homecoming festivities during the football season, Keota High School is hosting their homecoming activities this week during the basketball season.

Keota hosts their homecoming during the winter as they share a  football program with Sigourney. Keota Superintendent Jim Henrich says Keota students are proud of their unique situation, “Oh, they love it. They’ll decorate the town Thursday night with toilet paper and they’re very courteous about that, so that’s a tradition for a small community like us and there will be lots of people here.”

Henrich says the homecoming pep rally tomorrow at 1:55 p.m. is open to the public with masks required as they have been at Keota schools since October. At the pep rally, they’ll announce the number one Eagles fan and the homecoming court will be presented followed by the coronation of the king and queen. Queen candidates include Bailey Sieren, Jenna Jaeger, Sky Weber, and Lindsey Imhoff. King candidates are Sam Sieren, Luke Hammen, Brady Duwa and Bryce Greiner

Homecoming activities culminate tomorrow night with a girls/boys varsity basketball doubleheader against Iowa Valley followed by the homecoming dance in the junior high gymnasium. He says masks will be required for students during the dance as well.
