After weather derailed the schedule during the first half of this week, the Mid-Prairie boys basketball team is on the road tonight to take on the Monticello Panthers. The Hawks come into the game with an overall record of 8-4, they are 8-3 in the River Valley Conference. Last time out they were beaten Friday at Camanche 66-51, despite 14 points from Carter Harmsen and 13 from Aidan Rath. On the season, Harmsen leads the Hawks at 20 points and seven rebounds per game. Jack Pennington has a team best five assists and two steals per night.
Monticello is a perfect 12-0 overall, 11-0 in RVC play. The Panthers are ranked No. 3 in this week’s class 3A poll from the Iowa Associated Press. Last time out they beat North Cedar 66-41 with Justin Recker scoring 22 and Connor and Luke Lambert at 12 each. For the year the Panthers are led by Recker at 17 points and seven rebounds per game. Luke Lambert has five assists and two steals per night. These two teams last met in 2018 with Mid-Prairie taking a 50-44 win. Action is set for 7:30 tonight at Monticello High School.
