The Kalona City Council could set the city’s maximum property tax levy for fiscal year 2022 at their meeting tonight.

The council agenda includes the second and final public hearing followed by a resolution to approve the proposed property tax levy, which City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says is the same as last year. The current maximum levy is set at $8.76 per $1,000 valuation.  

The council is also scheduled to set the public hearing for the fiscal year 2022 budget for February 15. Also on the agenda is an update of the city’s Pop Up Pantry program and a discussion of donating funds to the Washington County Sheriff for the purchase of a new K9.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the community center.
