A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 6 a.m. Friday for Washington County.

The National Weather Service Quad Cities Office changed the Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning Thursday afternoon for an area also including Keokuk, Louisa, Jefferson, and Henry counties. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour are expected. Visibility may drop to as low as a quarter mile at times, with wet roadways freezing quickly. The National Weather Service urges that if you must travel to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
