The Washington City Council approved two items related to the North 4th Avenue improvements project during their meeting Tuesday.

The council was presented a second change order of about $3,432 and an eighth pay application of about $97,028 to FOX Engineering which they approved. City Administrator Brent Hinson says all in all, despite challenges including a sewer collapse under the railroad tracks that they had to fix, the city got a great result with the project, and FOX did a superb job. Hinson says the improvements will extend the lifespan of the high traffic street, with improvements for the underground infrastructure as well. The council will be able to close out the project when the grass seed is clearly established and pavement markings are finished this spring.
