The road to Wells Fargo Arena starts today for all Iowa high school wrestlers with Sectional Saturday and area class 1A participants will try to crack the top two to advance in the postseason.

Highland and WACO wrestlers will compete at Mediapolis with a trip to next week’s districts at Wapello on the line. The Huskies and Warriors will join Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Regina, Wapello, and Wilton for the tournament. Highland’s Easton Schlabaugh is coming off of a conference championship last weekend at 106 lbs and is 37-4 on the season. Bryce Thompson is putting together a monstrous senior season with a 28-3 record at 113 lbs. 

Sigourney-Keota will host sectional 10 along with Moravia, Cardinal, New London, North Mahaska, Pekin, Van Buren, and Wayne. Jack Clarahan is having a big sophomore campaign at 160 lbs with a 37-5 record and Aidan Schuster is 32-10 at 182 lbs. Top two at each weight class from this location will wrestle at the Pleasantville district.

All sectionals get started at noon today.
