Mid-Prairie junior wrestler Cael Garvey reached a major career milestone in the Golden Hawks regular season dual finale at Clear Creek Amana. With his pin of Mitchell Howard of Central DeWitt in just 44 seconds, Garvey captured the 100th win of his high school career. He spoke after the meet about the accomplishment. “It means that all of my years of wrestling have paid off. To get my name up on the wall in the wrestling room is a cool feeling. Great to know I have won 100 matches in three years at Mid-Prairie. I knew we were getting close but I didn’t know it was today. It was fun coming off the mat to everyone cheering.”
His first victory for the black and gold came on November 27th of 2018 when he was a winner by fall over Chayse Irving of Eddyville-Blakesburg. He got half way to 100 with his 50th career win on January 9th of 2020 by beating Bellevue’s Jacob Waller by 5-0 decision. Garvey finished his freshman season with a 29-21 overall record. He went 39-8 as a sophomore and so far this year has a 32-3 overall record.
