The road to Wells Fargo Arena starts tonight for the Sigourney girls’ basketball team when they host Moulton-Udell for a class 1A first round regional.
Sigourney closed the regular season 16-5 including a 12-3 South Iowa Cedar League record to claim their fifth straight division title. The success starts with Kaylee Weber, as the 5’10’’ senior recently eclipsed 1,000 points for her career and records 19.4 points and 10.1 rebounds a game. Weber will have a big height advantage once again tonight standing at least three inches taller than every Eagle player. Carly Goodwin has been a nice compliment for the Savage offense with 8.2 points an outing.
Moulton-Udell finished 7-12 overall and 4-6 in the Bluegrass Conference. The Eagles average just 35 points a game with most of the offense running through Jessica King and Abbie Probasco with 10 each. They create 12 steals a night, but cough it up 19 times a contest. These two programs have not met in the past 15 years.
The playoffs get started at 7 p.m. tonight at Sigourney High School. KCII will broadcast the entire Savage girls playoff run and listen tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. on FM 106.1 and kciiradio.com.
