Washington County 4-H or FFA members are encouraged to apply for the Mike Orris scholarship founded by the Washington County Fair Association.

The association started an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Washington County in 2019 to provide for an annual $1,000 scholarship, with the second one being awarded to a member of the graduating class of 2021 who has been a participant in Washington County 4-H or FFA for four years. Orris, a longtime community member, veteran, and volunteer member of the fair board for over 50 years passed away in 2019 at the age of 92. Scholarship application forms are available on the fair association’s website, and are also available from area high school guidance counselors, FFA advisors, and at the county extension office. The deadline is February 28th.
