The last hurdle before Wells Fargo Arena is today for Iowa High School wrestlers, as they gear up for districts and a lot of Class 1A area athletes will be competing.

The top two in each weight class at every district will advance to next week’s state tournament in Des Moines. Sigourney-Keota will have a busy day with six wrestlers competing in Pleasantville. Cobras hitting the mat include Daniel McLaughlin at 126 lbs, Reid Molyneux at 132 lbs, Jack Clarahan at 160 lbs, Cade Molyneux at 170 lbs, Aidan Schuster at 182 lbs, and Cade Streigle at 195 lbs. The six Cobras were a big reason why the team won their own sectional last weekend.

Wapello will be the destination for three Highland grapplers and one WACO competitor. Easton Schlabaugh is in action for the Huskies at 106 lbs, Bryce Thompson at 113 lbs, and Carlos Valenzuela at 126 lbs. The Warriors’ Landan Provino will compete at 285 lbs after a first place finish last week.

All district tournaments get started at noon today.
