The Winfield-Mt. Union boys basketball team saw their season come to an end Monday in their second district contest, falling to Burlington Notre Dame 57-46 on the road. After trailing 15-13 after one quarter, the Wolves took a slim 27-26 lead into the locker room. Out of halftime, the Nikes outscored WMU 31-19 in the second half including 17-10 in the fourth quarter to close the win. The Wolves pulled down 37 rebounds, blocked five shots and dished out 12 assists but were hurt by 18 turnovers and 38% shooting, including just two of 11 from long range. Cam Buffington and Abram Edwards each had double doubles for WMU with Edwards going for 20 points and 12 rebounds while Buffington put up 12 points and 14 boards. With the loss, Winfield-Mt. Union wraps up their season at 9-10. Notre Dame will meet New London Thursday after their 44-40 win over Lisbon.
