One of the four candidates running for the vacant District 3 Washington County Board of Supervisors’ seat is a party nominee.

Marcus Fedler of Ainsworth was nominated by the Washington County Republicans to run for the term vacated by Republican Abe Miller, which ends in 2022. Fedler owns Custom Impressions in Washington, and has volunteered for different organizations and served on the Washington Economic Development Group Board of Directors. He has been an active member of the Republican party, with a previous bid for the Iowa House of Representatives and assisting in other political campaigns. Fedler is a proponent for smaller and less intrusive government, “The solution shouldn’t be what can the government do to fix a problem, the solution should be how can a government stay out of it basically or create a situation where there isn’t a problem in the first place. Sometimes I think we try to figure out which version of yes we want, instead of asking if the government should intervene in the first place.”

Fedler is running against three candidates who were nominated by petition: Johnathan Bartholomew of Brighton, Dwight Miller of Ainsworth, and Joshua Schreiber of Washington. The special election is taking place March 2nd and you can find more information here. You can also hear more from Fedler during today’s Halcyon House Washington Page.
