Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius gave an update on snow removal during the recent Board of Supervisors meeting.
During the department head comment period, Thorius spoke about the brunt of winter weather the county has faced the last couple weeks, “We’ve been out every day for about the last week and a half now trying to open stuff up. The wind has not been our friend. We spent Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday going over a lot of the roads the same time, over and over again. Just trying to get the one lane open so we can get everywhere.”
Thorius commented on the more favorable weather conditions this week, at least for wind. He says they have continued to treat gravel and paved routes, and he asks motorists to be patient when they see the flashing lights of their trucks on the roadways. Thorius mentions they’ve been fortunate so far to not have their plow trucks and graders involved in any collisions.
