Teachers and staff in the Mid-Prairie and Highland school districts are scheduled to receive their first doses of COVID-19 vaccinations this coming week.
PK-12 school employees and early childcare workers are eligible to receive the vaccine as part of Iowa’s Phase 1B dispensing of vaccinations. Highland’s first round of COVID vaccinations is Wednesday, February 24th, with 71 teachers and staff to be vaccinated according to School Nurse Cindy Peiffer. Their second dose is scheduled for Friday, March 26th.
At Mid-Prairie as many 190 district employees will be vaccinated Friday, February 26th, though Superintendent Mark Schneider says some staff members have received the vaccine through other avenues. Their second dose is slated for Friday, April 2nd.
Twelve staff members at Hillcrest Academy have already received their first COVID-19 shot while another 12 are still waiting for their initial dose. Principal Dwight Gingerich says a date for the second dose has not been set.
