It’s all-state large group speech honors for six Mid-Prairie High School students.
The Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) has selected their “Outstanding Performers for 2021.” Honored in the southeast region is the Mid-Prairie team of Magnolia Graber, Emily Marner and Terra Richardson for their group improvisation called, “Transcondimentals.” The Golden Hawks’ foursome of Alexander and Christopher Burnam, Graber, and Kyra Helmuth received all-state recognition for their ensemble acting performance, “The Art of Manipulation,” which was written by Helmuth. Helmuth has also set a new Mid-Prairie record with seven all-state speech nominations between large group and individual competitions. The previous school record of six was held by Chris Hiller in 2006.
Columbus Community for their reader’s theatre performance called, “Collage,” and Keota for their reader’s theatre selection, “Swim the Fly.” Wapello was honored for their one-act play, “Studio C Collage.”
Due to Covid-19, there will not be an All-State Festival this year.
