One of the four candidates for the Washington County Board of Supervisors District 3 seat hails from Marion Township.
Josh Schreiber was nominated by petition for the special election happening on March 2nd. Schreiber is a self-employed contractor and has lived in Washington County for about 13 years. Schreiber has not held a previous office but he has volunteered for various youth sports organizations. He has been interested in county government for some time, and after collecting signatures for the election he realizes that if elected, he would like to involve residents more and keep them informed on the supervisors’ role in the county, “Right now I guess our biggest issue to tackle is our public health with the COVID virus and trying to get vaccines distributed to the most at-risk people. They’re interested in receiving it, if there’s anything that we can do to help out with that I’d like to see what it is. And I know Danielle [Pettit-Majewski] mentioned in the meeting the other day that there’s an older group of people that are not on the IRIS (Iowa Immunization Registry Information System) system and that kind of slows down some things for them there. So I don’t know if there’s anything we can do but I’d like to see if I can help out in any way.”
Schreiber is running against Republican nominee Marcus Fedler and Johnathan Bartholomew and Dwight Miller, who were also nominated by petition. Absentee voting is open and you can find more information here. You can also hear more from Schreiber during today’s Halcyon House Washington Page on air and at kciiradio.com.
