A Wapello man has died after his car collided with a semi truck in Muscatine County Friday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol says 37-year-old Michael A. Moorhead was driving a 1997 Honda Accord west on Fruitland Road when he failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 61 and was struck by the Freightliner tractor operated by 40-year-old Mikhail Driiya of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, who was northbound on 61, shortly after 5:30 a.m. Moorhead was taken by Muscatine Ambulance Service to Trinity Hospital in Muscatine where he died of his injuries.

The Iowa Department of Transportation, Fruitland and Muscatine fire departments, and Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene. The wreck remains under investigation. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
