The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team picked up awards this week from the River Valley Conference. Four members of the team were named to varying levels of all-conference squads.

Mid-Prairie’s Carter Harmsen was a unanimous elite all-conference team selection. He was one of just three unanimous selections to the squad, joining Camanche’s Jordan Lawrence and Monticello’s Justin Recker. The Golden Hawk junior led Mid-Prairie at 18 points per game, third in the RVC south, and seven boards per contest, fourth in the south division. He also totaled 57 assists, fifth most in the division and 25 steals.

Mid-Prairie center Aidan Rath was an all-south division team selection. Rath, a senior, finished his career posting 10 points per game, ninth in the south, to go along with six and a half rebounds per game, sixth in the RVC south. His 27 blocked shots were third in the division.

Golden Hawk guard Jack Pennington was also named all-south division. Pennington posted four points and three rebounds per game for Mid-Prairie. The junior shined in his floor game where he led Mid-Prairie and the River Valley south with 102 assists. His 45 steals were best on the team and second in the south.

Mid-Prairie guard Will Cavanagh was an honorable mention selection. Cavanagh finished the year averaging five points and four rebounds per night. His floor game was also terrific, finishing with 65 assists, second in the south and 19 steals. Mid-Prairie ended the year with a 15-8 overall record, their most wins since 2010.
