Washington’s Anna Nacos and her Demon golf teammates have goals of a state title this spring, but after her high school career ends in May she will exchange the Orange and Black for Purple and Gold. The senior recently signed her letter of intent to hit the links in Cedar Falls to compete for the University of Northern Iowa.
In addition to the division I school being close to home, Nacos had a lot of reasons to become a Panther. “I knew the team well including a former teammate of mine that plays there. I visited in October and I liked it a lot. Being a state school is also helpful and to have good academics as well as good athletics is really convincing. I know Coach (John) Bermel from when I played at tournaments in Cedar Falls and he is really nice.”
The Panthers finished in the top two in the Missouri Valley Conference Meet in 2018 and 2019 before last year was cancelled. This marks the second Nacos sibling that will compete in the MVC, as Anna’s older sister Sarah plays at Bradley. Nacos will be a staple for an experienced Demon squad this year that most recently placed sixth in the 2019 state tournament.
Nacos plans on majoring in biology with the possibility of going into pharmacy.
