The deadline to apply for the Washington County Riverboat Foundation’s 2021 Spring Small Grant cycle is less than two weeks away.

As the foundation, which receives all of its funds from the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, continues to weather the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve decided to offer grants of up to $5,000 for area organizations wanting to get projects off the ground. Foundation President Shawn Ellingson comments on how the casino has responded to the pandemic, “Really once we bounced back in June we had pretty good revenue and I think people were getting out and visiting the casino and they needed that outlet and it was available for them. So we’re hoping 2021, the casino stays open the whole year and things do get back to normal as far as our foundation and what we can do with the money we receive from the casino. So we’re really hoping 2021 is a good springboard into a great year in 2022.”

Organizations eligible to apply for the foundation include governmental units like cities, counties, schools, community colleges and hospitals; charitable, religious or educational organizations; business leagues like Chambers of Commerce, and veterans organizations. The deadline to apply is March 14th, with presentation of grants expected in mid-April.
