Appointments are no longer needed to visit the Washington Public Library on weekdays this March.
The library is now open for 30-minute book browsing, copying, printing, and faxing from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. The public must check in at the front desk upon arrival, and the library will be locked on Saturdays, but appointments can be made for express browsing or curbside checkout. Library Director Bryna Walker says computer and study rooms and meeting rooms are available by appointment, and lounge furniture is still unavailable at this time, “As far as the play room and baby garden, those will also be off limits just because of our so many services that we have with curbside and checking out inside, cleaning in between, that we don’t really want that extra step right this month. We’re hoping by the end of this month we can maybe open the baby garden up and hopefully start to get the furniture out so people can just come in and sit and look out the window and enjoy the spring.”
Walker adds that current research from the Institute of Museum and Library Services shows curbside checkout to be the safest way to check out books, which they continue to offer. She asks that the public adhere to their mask mandate and follow signs in the library of what areas are open. For more information on this month’s procedures, read below.
