The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association recently released awards for the previous season on the diamond and an area coach was recognized. Former Mid-Prairie head coach Andy Greiner was named class 2A Southeast District Coach of the Year. Greiner led the Hawks to a 15-4 overall record and 10-1 mark in the River Valley Conference. Mid-Prairie captured their first overall conference title since 2000 and first bid to the state tournament since 2007. He was also named River Valley Conference Coach of the Year.The Hawks saw their season end in the state quarterfinals. Greiner stepped down at the end of the season after 16 years with the program, including serving as head coach for the last six. He had an overall record of 75-64.
