A Wapello man faces drug, harassment and several other charges after he was initially stopped for a traffic violation last month.
The Wapello Police Department reports they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Eric Brewer at approximately 8 p.m. on February 12th. After a search of the vehicle, Brewer was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, a class C felony, driving with a suspended license, and no proof of insurance.
Brewer was also a suspect in an ongoing narcotics investigation conducted over several months by Wapello police and the traffic stop led to a warrant to search his residence located in the 500 block of North Chestnut Street later that night. Officers found methamphetamine and evidence of Brewer’s intent to sell meth, leading to charges of possession of over five grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and/or conspire with others to sell, a class B felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the investigation, Brewer is also alleged to have intentionally damaged a resident’s vehicle with paint cans, resulting in charges of harassment and criminal mischief, a class D felony. He remains at the Louisa County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and Columbus Junction Police Department assisted during the residential search. The Wapello Police Department also credits information received from the public which aided their narcotics investigation. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
