A social media personality will be paying a visit to PAWS & More Animal Shelter this Wednesday as part of a national effort to assist animal shelters.

Kris Rotonda of Jordan’s Way will be doing a Facebook livestream event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday as part of his mission to amplify the work and needs of animal shelters to his approximately 70,000 followers. PAWS & More Director Amber Talbot says Rotonda’s social media events have often led to adoptions of many of the participating shelters’ pets as well as monetary support, “A lot of shelters are receiving anywhere from $5-15,000 even at these events, so he’s able to fundraise in just a few hours so it’s very impactful. He has such a large following that it’s such a great opportunity for your organization to be seen on a larger scale. He’s national and so it’s great for any small business to have that kind of publicity, so we’re so excited.”

Talbot says the livestream will feature several challenges and activities to encourage the public’s monetary donations, with surprises in store, “He does various different things with community officials so we’re so proud that we’re going to have our Mayor [Jaron Rosien] and Steve Roth and Ann Williams and our Police Chief Jim [Lester] available as well to be here. So I think we’ll be having individuals probably have to bail out our police chief and various things like that. We’ll probably do some blind taste testing, lots of different fun opportunities to give.”

Talbot hopes this event will raise $15,000 to help with the shelter’s veterinary bills and other surprise expenses that come up for the non-profit organization. For more information on Jordan’s Way click here and Wednesday’s fundraiser, click here.
