The Highland School Board has given their approval to share the duties of Superintendent Ken Crawford with the WACO School District starting with the next school year.

Crawford says the shared arrangement would have him working about 70% of the time in the Highland district and 30% at WACO schools. He mentions how WACO initially hired former Highland Superintendent Chris Armstrong on an interim basis in 2018, “So they’ve been looking for a partner that they feel comfortable with and and the conversation between them and Highland have always been that WACO and Highland are close enough and it would work out pretty well. It’s a one-year deal and we hope that it continues to work in a positive fashion for them and for Highland.”

For the last three years Highland has shared Crawford with the Lone Tree School District. In January, he resigned his position at Lone Tree effective June 30th to take the position full-time at Highland which was to be effective July 1st. Instead he’ll begin splitting his time between Highland and WACO if the WACO school board officially approves the arrangement as expected at their next regular meeting Monday, March 15th.
