The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team got back to double figures in the win column in the most recent season. The Hawks finished just under the .500 mark at 9-10 in league play and 10-12 overall. The Hawks tied with Wilton for fourth in the River Valley South. Mid-Prairie alternated wins and losses through the first half of the season, standing at 5-4 entering Christmas break and 5-5 overall through their first 10 games. The Golden Hawks went 5-7 after Christmas including a tough end of the season where they dropped four of their last five games.
Mid-Prairie finished fifth of seven teams in the River Valley scoring 43.7 points per game. They were fourth on the boards with 30.8 per contest, second with 12.4 assists each game and 11.7 steals per night. Mid-Prairie’s 38.3% shooting percentage was second in the RVC south with their 23.8% from three point land fourth.
Individually, Mid-Prairie was led by junior Maddie Nonnenmann and her 292 points, sixth most in the RVC south. She also held the team lead with 147 rebounds, sixth in the south. Sophomore Amara Jones ended the year with 65 assists, sixth in the south and a team best 50 steals. Senior Phelan Hostetler led the River Valley shooting 50.6% from the floor and was second in the RVC south, and fifth in 3A with 54 blocked shots.
In total, four Golden Hawks were named to all-River Valley Conference teams with Nonnenmann receiving elite all-conference honors, Hostetler and Myah Lugar all-south division honors and Jones an honorable mention selection. The Golden Hawks say good bye to seniors Lugar and Hostetler from this year’s team.
